The Fitting Process

The fitting process is important to our team to determine your new contact lenses’ comfort and vision correction levels.

During the fitting process, we assess the health of your cornea with a comprehensive eye exam to ensure you’ll be able to wear your new contacts without issue or discomfort. Following your exam, our team will fit you with trial lenses and schedule follow-up appointments to check how your eyes react to your new contact lenses.

Types of Contact Lenses

At Ora Eyecare, we offer various specialty contact lenses to accommodate the unique visual needs of our patients. Contact lenses fall under 2 main categories, soft contact lenses and rigid gas permeable (RGP).

Soft contact lenses are made of malleable plastic polymers. Soft contacts are very flexible and, when appropriately fitted by our team, form to the cornea.

RGP lenses are more durable than soft contact lenses and have an easier care system. RGP lenses offer the advantage of allowing more oxygen to pass through to the eye.

These 2 categories of lenses include other specialty options that are used to correct various vision problems.

Aspheric Lenses

Aspheric contact lenses are designed to control the average spherical aberration in the lens and human eye. Spherical aberration is the inability of a lens to focus light on a common point.

Aspheric contact lenses can focus light and offer clearer, sharper vision.

Toric Lenses

Toric contact lenses help address and correct astigmatism. These lenses come in the soft contact or RGP variety. Toric lenses contain multiple powers, one vertical and the other horizontal. Multiple powers allow these lenses to center on the eye.

Toric lenses require a precise fit, and our team can help find the ideal fit during the fitting process.

Multifocal Lenses

Multifocal lenses feature 2 distinct lens powers for near and distant vision. These lenses can help correct presbyopia and eliminate the need for reading glasses. Multifocal contact lenses are available in soft and RGP forms and are available for daily wear or extended overnight wear.
